Matthew Phillips has been riding scooters since 1983, owning examples of both classic Lambretta and Vespa two and three-wheelers over the decades. While enjoying and appreciating both marques, the Vespa has been his preference and Matthew has built up a vast knowledge of these machines, in particular the older models and more specifically those produced in England by Douglas during the 1950s and 1960s.
Matthew has always been keen to share his expertise, something which has grown exponentially over the last 40 years of building, riding, restoring and researching classic Vespa scooters, for example serving as Technical Advisor to the Veteran Vespa Club for a time. Matthew is also a regular contributor to ScooterNova magazine, writing and advising on articles. For many he a reputation as the ‘go to’ man for those seeking not only advice on Vespa scooters of the 1940s, 50s and 60s, but also the rare and hard to find spare parts, especially those unique to the Douglas Vespa models.
ScooterNova is the independent scooter magazine for scooter enthusiasts.
